| Although the "Legal Service" was mentioned as totally a domestic notion about 30 years ago, it is now included in the scope of the WTO multilateral trade system as a form of international service trade. The Legal Service trade is realizing its internationalization and liberalization, and the international market and legal system of legal service is building up step by step.This thesis starts from the discussion about the internationalization and liberalization of legal service, having researched several important issues of the development of the legal service, the legal system of legal service of WTO and the improvement of legal system in foreign legal service in China. This thesis consists of 4 chapters.Chapter One provides the definition of legal service trade includes its notion,scope,form and characteristics.Chapter Two concentrates on the development of internationalization and liberalization of legal service by probing into its motive force, prospect, resistance and the meaning for the international legal service market and economy.Chapter Three probes into the WTO legal system of legal service. There is not a specialized legal system of legal service. The WTO legal system of legal service consists of 3 parts: one part is General Obligations and Disciplines; one part is Specific Commitments, the rest is the List of None Most Favored Nation Treatment. This thesis provides a detailed description and analysis of the WTO legal system of legal service by means of above 3 parts and comments on its function.Chapter Four analyses the status of the opening up of the legal service market in China, and the opportunities and challenges brought by the membership of WTO in the situation of internationalization and liberalization of legal service. Then this thesis points out several problems exist in the foreign legal service trade system in China and provides advices in the aspect of legal system and management, law firms and lawyers.
