The great concept of building a harmonious socialist society, which was put forward at the 4th session of the 16th Central Committee of the Party, provides a momentous background for the harmonious development of religion. In this age of globalization, all different religions are related and subject to various alterations and even changes. It is a historic trend that different religions turn to strengthening internal and external dialogues and communication among them for the purpose of developing religions in a harmonious manner. The study on religious harmony, therefore, will be there existing for long.This paper elaborates on China's religious harmony in the following respects. By interpreting such issues as its meaning, manifestations in Chinese history and realistic significance, Part One points out that religious harmony is conducive to achieving the goal of building a harmonious society, which needs the active participation of both religious people and non-religious people. Furthermore, religious harmony plays an important role in moving the world peace forward, particularly in enlightening the countries and regions that are plagued with ethnic and religious conflicts or those that are in a peaceful environment, but still threatened by some invisible dangers.Part Two involves the analysis of religious harmony focusing on a series of inharmonious religious factors in the world community and the inharmonious religious situation in today's China, which is mainly caused by religious conflicts.Part Three deals with the possibility of promoting the harmonious development of religions. Given the deep influence of our traditional harmonious culture, despite the inharmonious factors existing in the field of religion, it is likely to achieve religious harmony, with the guidance of the tolerant policy made by the Party plus the harmonious element in religious doctrines.The last part focuses on exploring the idea of building religious harmony. To accomplish religious harmony is a very long process, which should be guided by the Marxist concept of religion and based on the equality and tolerance, dialogue and communication between different religions as well as within a religion itself; it also requires to improve the quality of religious teachers and preachers, believers and religious administrators; By taking advantage of the secularization of religions, it is advisable to further regulate religions by law to accelerate the harmonious construction of religion, making religion adaptive to a harmonious socialist society.This paper will be regarded the Marxist concept of religion as a guide, uses the method of historical materialism, through theory and practice, regards the latest research results as a reference to concern about religious harmony at home and abroad, continues to explore the ways of building religious harmony , hopes that religious harmony can light flamboyantly in the building of a harmonious socialist society and the world's peace and development.
