All the countries of the world have shown great sensitive to the national images of their countries and the efforts they make to protect their national images in the eyes of the international public. In recent years, Scholars have pay close attention to the significance of national images in the foreign policy. This thesis trying to analyze the relations between national image and foreign policy from the aspects of theory and case studies.The first part of the paper mainly discusses the definition of national images. I think the national image is build on the basis of matter origin, it is the judges and apprises of international community to a country by various intermediaries. We will sums up the value structuring the country images and the impact of national image over foreign policy from the angle of the theory of international relations.The third part of the paper takes USA as case, tying to explain the relations between national images and the foreign policy from American's two part of images, what images does the USA government have trying to struct for a long time? Why USA governments care about the images of their nations? What motivates the American government to spend valuable resources on national image building? What type of influences does the national image has on the foreign policy?The fourth part of the paper interprets the above theory and concludes the case analysis, in order to provide some enlightenment for the figure of China's international image and the formulation of foreign policy. National image and foreign policy are the mutual variables. firstly, national image is the most important intangible assets in a sovereign state, which determines a country's international public opinion environment to a large extent, decides of a country's position, influence and development environment on the international stage , thus affecting their survival and expansion in the international community.
