With the in-depth development of globalization, culture, values, and foreign policy asthe representative of some mental factors have occupied an increasingly importantposition in the country’s comprehensive strength. Soft power is a kind of ability with which a countrycan achieve its goal by attracting others. Its essence is a kind of attraction. It achieveswhat it purses not by forcing or seducing others but through attracting others to follow itand affecting them in a secret way.National image is the comprehensive judgment. National image is one of the most significant parts ofsoft power and it’s the direct reflection of it.This paper begins with the research on the soft power and deeply analyzes the conceptand the composition of this item. It also makes a serious research about the relationshipbetween the soft power and the China’s peaceful rise. It finds what effect that the softpower could have on it and makes a deep research on the national image. It tries to findout various factors that have profound effect on the building of national image. Based onthe two parts, it makes an analysis of the current situation about China’s national image, trying to find out the reason of the “distorted” China’s image and what they are. In the lastpart of this paper, feasible ways of increasing China’s soft power and improving China’snational image are suggested.According to this paper, China should improve its national image by increasing itsown soft power.
