Soft Power And China's Public Diplomacy

"Soft power" has become a global language in the current world. Many countries, especially major powers has made the construction of soft power to a strategic level. The construction of Soft power depends on exploration of the soft strength, but the soft strength does not produce soft power automatically, the transfer needs a technical process called public diplomacy.As an economic and political giant, China has attached importance to both of construction of soft power and exploration of soft strength. Although the practice of China's public diplomacy has made certain achievements , it has not established a clear system of public diplomacy . In addition , there are some concepts and technical problems still confusing the practice of China's public diplomacy. Therefore, clarifying the relationship between China's soft power and public diplomacy , and telling the shortcomings are very important to the practice of China's public diplomacy and the improvement of China's soft power. This thesis states it from three aspects.Chapter one analyzes the theory of soft power, and distinguish the concepts between soft power and soft strength. This chapter also defines the concept of public diplomacy, review the history of public diplomacy and analyze the relationship between the soft power and public diplomacy.Chapter two mainly reviews the three stages of China's public diplomacy history , and analyze the composition of China's soft strength and the meaning of improving the construction of China's soft power.Chapter three is about the new problems in current China's public diplomacy. In this chapter, the author provides four suggestions: First, the subjects of China's public diplomacy should have more participants; Second, China's public diplomacy should pay attention to the objects both at home and abroad; Third, the practice of China's public diplomacy needs to be more positive and fair; At last, China's public diplomacy properly handle the relationship between media and government.
