The examination system for officials in the Republic of China was an important element of the political and personal systems of the government. It was built on the basis of the Theory of Five Powers proposed by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. It was also the succession and development of the traditional Chinese bureaucracy and examination system for officials and western systems in modern times. For its profound influence on China's politics and society in that period, the advanced historic meaning of the examination system could not be neglected. Both the experiences and lessons of the system should be greatly valued and carefully studied. This thesis employs Marxist Materialism and makes use of related knowledge of institutions and politics, so as to expound the causes of forming, conditions of implementation, advantages and disadvantages and results……of the system. The purpose of the thesis is to use the analysis as a resource of reference to the process of promoting the reform of government organizations, completing the modern system of civil servants and personal system on the front of examination system.
