The appraisal and analysis about new liberalism ideological trend in China is the part of my supervisor's research projects titled the"Effect of Non-mainstream Social Thought on College Students and Countermeasures". (The numbering of project approval: Gan, Ideological and political education NO.2, 2004)The first part of this paper is concerned with the background of new liberalism ideological trend in China. Firstly, different opinions on the academic definition of new liberalism are introduced. Secondly, the generating background of the western new Liberalism is pointed. Finally, considering from domestic and international condition, the key generating background factors of the new liberalism ideological trend in China are analyzed.New liberalism ideological trend in China holds that modern and contemporary history of China deviates from the mainstream of world civilization, we are tending towards the western modern civilization as a representative, the crux of the problem is the reform of the political system lags behind and economic system reform being not yet in readiness and liberty is the precondition of socialist market economy. The second part of this paper introduces the main standpoints of new liberalism ideological trend in China from four aspects mentioned above.The third part of this paper is a commentary on new liberalism ideological trend in China using Marxist standpoint, ideas and methods which revels its theoretical significances and flaws, points out its negative effects in constructing socialist harmonious society, expounds its influence on undergraduate students and the countermeasures and finally describes the prospect of this thought briefly.The innovations of this paper are as: Firstly, It lays stress on the newest theory to apply the paper writing. The author tries to use the newest spirit about"insist to using core value system in socialism to guiding and leading ideological trend, respecting differences, containing variety and forming the social idea consensus at the greatest level"in the 16th plenary session of the 6th central Committee of the CPC and"explore effective ways of letting the system of socialist core values guide trends of thought and take the initiative in ideological work, respecting divergence and allowing diversity while effectively resisting the influence of erroneous and decadent ideas"in the 17th Congress of the CPC and"orientate correct public opinions to guide and lead ideological trend, condense the social idea consensus"in the 17th plenary session of the 2th central Committee of the CPC to guide the thesis writing. Secondly, it is emphasized on selecting subject to cope with actual problems in enforcing the thinking political education for college students. In order to put the policy of central government into effect, a policy to consolidate and improve the thinking political education for college students more and more, the thesis chooses new liberalism ideological trend in China for contemporary college students as research object, which is one of the most influence and non-mainstream's ethos. Besides using the method of documentary and comparative analysis, the questionnaire is also employed. Based on the first-hand material, it then summarizes some aspects of the influence of new liberalism ideological trend in China on undergraduate students and its manners under the new condition. Finally, the corresponding countermeasures about intensify the ideological and political education of college students are put forward. Finally, great attention be paid to the conflicts of different social trends in cyber culture on selecting data of this paper. In the first place, the Internet contains a large amount of information and the characteristics of quick transmission. With the rapid development of Internet, different social trends are getting more interrelating, conflicting, integrating and absorbing. They conflicts each other and the arguments over different social trends are coming, so most of the data of this paper, especially the views of new liberalism ideological trend in China stern from the Internet.
