The hostess is the female occupation which appears newly along with the modern city socio-economic development, and also one of lower level feminine main occupations. China's hostesses appear most early in the latter Qing dynasty at Shanghai foreign settlement's smoke hall, who are called the waitress. But it is banned soon by the government authorities. In 1920s, Guangzhou begins to find the appearance of the hostess. And it expanded into other professions from the field of diet.This article first recounted the development of women's occupation, and introduces Guangzhou's tea drinking of Republic of China, to prove that Guangzhou hostess's appearance is the result of women's liberation movement and the socio-economic development Then it introduces hostess's basic condition, reflecting their sever survival condition. The third chapter introduces public's dispute on the hostess's appearance and the conflicts which are produced by it. After that it introduced the two time's process of forbidding hostess by authority, and in the controllable situation government have to admit and take into consideration making measures to manage the hostess. Last, the article analyzes the positive influence which is brought into by hostesses, and show the consideration brought by the hostess occupation's development.
