A Comparative Study On Lenin's And Mao Zedong's Transitional Thoughts

Marx said in the Critique of the Gotha Program in 1875:there is a revolutionary transition period between the capitalist society and the communist society and along with a correspondinglypolitical transition period.â‘ (Volume 3, Selected Works of Marx and Engels, 21) After the victory of the October Revolution led by Lenin, the first problem they faced up was how to achieve the transition from socialism to capitalism. Under the extremely complicated environment both at home and abroad,Lenin's transition thoughts experienced a process of developing from the direct transition to the indirect transition , and found a newly transitional road suitable for the actual situation in Russia. Though transforming from the wartime communist policies to the new economic policy,they made the correct policy and measures suitable for Russian national conditions and characteristics,and established the theory on the new economic policy which is completely new and more comprehensive. When leading the new democraticism revolution, Mao Zedong created the new democraticism theory and formed the transition strategy of building socialism first and then transforming capitalism,according to China's nature of semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. After the restoring of national economy, according to the new situations and conditions, Mao Zedong replaced the transition strategy with that of putting the same emphasis on both,and also proposed the general guideline in transition period . The transition thoughts of Lenin and Mao Zedong both changed before and after the process of the transition. This resulted from complicated and plural factors. The paper aims to explore thoroughly the processes and the causes in the development of transition thoughts as well as the intrinsic links between Nelin's and Maozedong's.Marx's theory on the transitional period provided them with theoretical guidance to realize the transition to socialism .So, what else the paper seeks to expound is how they understand and use the Marxist theory on the transitional period . Looking back in history and exploring the development tracks of the thoughts of these great men are the purposes and wishes that the writer expects to realize, which can be served as experience and lessons in order not only to give precautions for contemporary people but better guidings for China's socialist modernization drive.
