A Study On The Job Burnout Of Jail Policement In Anhui Province

Job burnout is A syndrome of emotional exhaustion,depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment that can occur among individuals who do people work of some kind. Job burnout is a newly developed research subject in psychological field in recent 30 years . At present, the domestic research mainly concentrates on working group as teacher , nurse , etc; and research on police is hardly seen . In this research , Maslach Burnout Inventory General Surrey (MBI - GS) , social support scale and Eysenck personality questionnaire were used , to make a research on both jail police and other functional police in Anhui province , China. Through the research, we can draw conclusions as follow :(1)To compare with other functional police , jail police have a higher degree in emotional exhaustion , reduced personal accomplishment and perspective of job burnout . As a whole , job burnout is not so serious between jail police , but emotional exhaustion is serious . To jail police in Anhui province , their perspective of emotional exhaustion takes up an percentage of 28.4 in all, in depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment are 13.5% and 19.6% respectively .(2) Demography variable as different gender ,age , marital status , educational background , working years as a policeman administrative , rank , daily working time , if get in touch with criminal directly, these all have different influence on some of the aspects of job burnout.(3) Overall, the level of job burnout will be higher in all aspect in low social support group than in high social support group .(4)Personality will also affect the level of job burnout . In all dimensions of job burnout, emotion instable person would have a higher level than emotion stable ones . On personal accomplishment and dimension of job burnout, introvert person will have a higher level than extrovert ones , but the tend to have no distinction on emotional exhaustion and the dimension of depersonalization . psychoticism has an effect on depersonalization , reduced personal accomplishment and dimension of job burnout , that is higher score achiever will have a higher level in job burnout than low score achievers , but psychoticism will have no effect on the dimension of emotional exhaustion .(5)There is significant correlation between job burnout and social support , personality .Job burnout assumed a significant negative correlation with social support , while assumed a significant positive correlation with neuroticism and psychoticism , and significant negative correlation with introversion or extroversion .In the light of the findings of this research , this paper proposed strategies of alleviating job burnout of jail police .
