In recent years, with the deepening of higher education reform, the progress of establishing a society governed by law and the emergence of paid education, and the independent job-choice and complete credit system, there is an increase in the cases of college students charging their Alma Maters, which highly drew the attention and discussion of the public. The core reason why students charged their schools is the disputes over the rights and interests of both sides. Its emergence just indicates that we are on a time of "declare our rights". The way to solve these problems soundly and effectively depends on how we view on the students' rights and how to protect them. Currently, the protections of students' rights in China are still in the primary stage. The laws, regulations and organizations are still imperfect, for example, two similar cases which were accepted by different courts came out with opposite results. This situation fully explained that we are far from enough in the protection of students' legal rights. This article discussed the main problems in the protection of students' rights in ordinary universities based on the analysis of the current situation, and also did related researches on how to solve such problems as the imperfectness of laws and regulations at higher education institutions, the difficulties of assistance and the weakness of students' awareness of protection. It also put forward the principal part of rights protection should be students and some students from ordinary universities should have laws to follow and have channels to charge when they want to protect their own rights. These researches were divided into five separate parts. The first part is the preface, in which the background and significance of making these researches were studied and the definitions of the main concepts were given; the second part studied the students' rights; the third part described the current situation of students' rights protection, and pointed out the main obstacles in its improvement; the fourth part pointed out that the main protectors of students' legal rights are themselves, and also listed out other protectors and their responsibilities; the fifth part pointed out the prerequisite, foundation and key aspects in effectively protecting the students' legal rights.
