The Evolution Of Public Space And The Operation Of Village Power In Rural China

In the Village society, there are various forms of social relevance and structures of interpersonal contacts. Some of them are personal, while others public. When the public nature of these linkages and the structure of rural society form a specific space which is relatively fixed, the village constitutes a public space. It is a matter of public space, but also social and political space. These rural public spaces play a variety of roles in the villages and impact the political, social, cultural, and economic development of the villages.This dissertation explores the interaction between the evolution of rural public spaces and the operation of the village power based on one case, Qiyi Village in Yiwu City, in Zhejiang province. In this dissertation, this author considers village self-government system and the production based on household, which cause to the village for the provision of public goods and public services, contribute the evolution and growth of the rural public spaces. In one hand, the operation of the qiyi village plays a great role in promoting the evolution and growth of the rural public spaces. In the other hand, the rural public spaces enrich the lives of villagers and promote the development of the village, which promote the democratization of the operation of the village power. The democratic operation of the village power and the evolution and growth of the rural public spaces promote each other and form a good interactive relationship, which promote the modernization and democratization of the village.
