On The Historical Evolution Of Democracy

Democracy is a kind of political value and a kind of political system which have been pursued by the whole of humankind for thousands of years.Now it is one of the most important political values in contemporary world.It only indicated a simple political system which included the process of managements of polis and voting of governmental leaders which ordinary citizens could directly participate in.Of course, democracy has been evolved into an intricate conception which includes freedom, equality,justice and many other political values and becomes one of the most central contemporary political values.At the same time,it has also become the symbol which can prove the rationality and superiority of political system.As a result,democratic politics becomes the common goal in contemporary international political developments. Taking a panoramic view of the development of democracy,there is a mutually promoting relationship between the democracy of a value meaning and itself,which is comprehended as a kind of political system.Therefore,the studies of democracy should be considered these two aspects and combined the studies which have the respective investigation about them.In this paper,the author tries his best to discuss the development of democracy along these two clues in order to obtain some innovative understanding of democracy,and gives personal suggestions to our construction of socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics.
