Research On Cyber Democracy And Its Significance For The Construction Of Socialist Democracy

Democracy is the highest goal of humans, which is also the political product of social development at a certain stage. With the accelerating globalization and deepening reform and opening-up, cyber democracy relieves the pressure on real democracy as a new democratic form, contributing a lot to the realization of direct democracy.For our socialist China, Marxist view of democracy points out direction of socialist democratic politics construction with Chinese characteristics, adding new meaning to the socialist democracy. Adhering to the guidance of Marxist view of democracy is indispensable for the development of socialist democratic politics and establishment of socialist political civilization. At the same time, in the key period to strengthen the construction of socialist democracy, China should keep pace with the times to take in cyber democracy and other new concepts to the real democracy of socialism.As a brand-new concept, cyber democracy has been studied by the domestic researchers only from the aspects of definition, characteristics, status, development measures and prospects without a thorough systematic research. Based on this, combined with China’s specific national conditions, this paper attempts to define the concept of cyber democracy to discuss the likelihood of cyber democracy to exist in the socialist democratic political reality in China. By comparing the similarities and differences between Chinese and western democracy, the paper finds out the new characteristics of cyber democracy development in China and its practical significance of socialist democracy construction, points out the development dilemma cyber democracy facing at present, and seeks basic measures of the rapid development of cyber democracy to speed up the process of China’s democratization construction.
