After the Cold War,the importance of Asia-Pacific Region is on the increase in America's strategy around the world.Especially,with the the rising of East-Asia,America shifts its strategic focus to East-Asia as well as the Asia-Pacific Region in order to protect America's national interests there.With this background,security cooperation between the USA and Southeast Asia countries is enhanced and the USA maintains and properly reinforces its military existance in this region,thus bringing profound influence to regional security structure.The main contents and innovations of this dissertation are indicated as follows.First,from the angle of realism and based on the concept of traditional securiy,several research methods including interest analysis,power analysis and conflict analysis are applied synthetically in the study on the contents,formation reasons and influence of America's security policy toward Southeast Asia after the Cold War.Second,evolved from the US security strategies toward Southeast Asia in the Cold War which are analysed in detail,American security policies toward Southeast Asia after the Cold War under the governance of three presidents,namely George Bush ,Clinton and George W Bush are analysed concretely with their contents,cause of formation and influence.Although American security policies toward Southeast Asia after the Cold War under the governance of the three presidents are different,they adhere to the same posture featuring the security involvement in Southeast Asia.Third,backed by American security strategies after the Cold War,the author then analyses the causes for the formation of the policies in detail from five dimensionalities namely geopolitics,economics,America's major diplomatic theories in particular,strategic stakes in the area and the factor of China,which are expected to support later studies related.Fourth,the author analyses the positive and negative influences brought about by America's security policy toward Southeast Asia after the Cold War to regional security with dialetical method,then the trend of America's security policy toward Southeast Asia under the governance of president Barack Obama is also analysed exploratorily according to the logical way in the argumentation.
