National interests define the fundamental goal of its foreign policy,and determine the behaviour discipline of country's international behaviour,so it must be one analysis start-point of international relation study.Based on this cognition of the importance of national interests,this thesis focuses on the west school especially different international relation theory genre in the US since the naissance of international relationship discipline. My study mainly follows two masterstrokes:the first is to trace each genre's research method and fundamental viewpoints according to time dimensionality;the second is to analyze the similarities and differences of theory hypothesis and logic deduction of each school from school debating angle.This thesis contains three parts.The first part is to explore the polemics of national interests on viewpoints and research methods between idealism and realism.The second part emphasises on study the innovation of research approach on national interests advocated by Behaviorism,and traditionalistic revise on its standpoints and research methods under the influence of this.The third part mainly focuses on common points and differences on research of national interests between Neorealism and Neoliberalism,and based on criticism of rationalistic research paradigm originated from synthesis of Neorealism and Neoliberalism,focuses on research agenda on national interests promoted by constructivism,Through this study we can draw a main conclusion,which is no matter how to construct a new and withstand tests international political theory through any patterns, the narration about interests especially national interests surely located on the centre position of its theory deduction.So,to construct China's international relations theory, take research of national interests as the starting point may be a good choice.
