Presently, China is at a key transition period between a traditional authoritative society and a modern democratic one. Since the implementation of reform and opening-up policy and the market economy, China's economic sector, way of obtaining employment, type of distribution and organization have become more and more diversified. And the social interest structure has splitted and reorganized all the time. All of these element have provided social foundation for the interest group. And with the awakening of public awareness, political democratization and the national legal system advancement, the development of modern transportation and communication technology, all of those elements have contributed for the produce of the interest group become an inexorable trend. Therefore, the interest group is an inevitable product and tendency of China's reform and opening-up process. The impact of interest groups in China's government decision-making are vital historical subjects we should face with deliberation. In this regard, we should study how interest groups in the European Union (EU) affect EU decision-making process and use their experience as a source of reference for the Chinese government. It's of profound significance to conduct the positive development of domestic interest groups and push forward political democratization and build a harmonious society in China. The thesis presents a thorough description on how interest groups might utilize to involve and influence EU decision-making process and provides the specific case studies so that we can reveal how European countries regulate and control the interest groups and offer some enlightenment for the development of interest groups in China.There are three chapters in this thesis:The first chapter gives you a brief introduction about the interest groups from the aspects of its connotation, types, theories and the role it plays in the west democratic society. And then, it emphasizes the types and development status of European interest groups.The second chapter is the focus of the thesis. It mainly discusses how interest groups in the European Union (EU) affect EU decision-making process. First of all, it expounds the whole process of EU decisioin-making and its theoretical analysis. And then, it analyses the political representation of interest groups on the EU level and their popular ways to influence the EU decision-making process. Finally, it also cites some examples in the fields of politics,economy and environmental protection, such as European Women's Lobby.The third chapter summarizes European's experience on regulate and control the interest groups, and relate it to the development status of China's domestic interest groups and its impact on government decision-making so as to use their experience as a source of reference for the Chinese government.To the end, it concludes that the Chinese government should use European's experience as a source of reference so as to conduct the positive development of domestic interest groups and push forward political democratization and build a harmonious society in China. Just as the saying goes, "Stone of its mountain may attack the jade".
