The Transformation Of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization In The Perspective Of The Neoliberalism

The author think it important for us to define and understand today's NATO , for the functions and missions of NATO have been transformed since the end of the Cold War , especially after the "9. 11" event in the United States. It becomes our focus. Many theorists try understanding NATO from their perspectives. And the author try to explores NATO from the Neoliberalism. Although NATO have been transformed since the end of the Cold War, It confront many difficulties. From the perspective of Neoliberalism, the author want to understand and interpret the institutions of NATO how to change and adapt the new affairs .and the author also want to explore the reasons of NATO's transformation. The author think NATO'S adapting is caused by the position and the changing securities in Europe, that can be interpreted by the theory of institution as well as the interdependent relations between Europe's countries. Just because of American global strategy , NATO's selfadaptation and the changing relations among America , Russia and European powers, the author argues that NATO's transforming is becoming more and more difficult. but It continue to adjust its military strategy ,and NATO's political function is also strengthening . Finally it will be transforming into a security cooperative organization that has many members but without fixed enemy.Faced with threat of the terrorism, NATO must reform its function so as to adapt to the demand of times. NATO want to build a new NATO, that is to say, to build new function, develop new capability, to identify new threats, to enroll new members. since the end of the Cold War , especially after the "9. 11" event , NATO's function become more and more frequently , it began to vindicate peace in many regions , especially in Barbary,East Europe and Afghanistan. In these regions ,the NATO's behavior confronted more and more challenges ,that become focuses of NATO's function and transformation. That also draws many scholars and people's attention. Many scholars even think that maybe vital for NATO's transformation. The explanatory and predictive power of neorealism and neoliberal institutionalism has been tested by NATOps persistence and function after the end of the Cold War. Institutionalism emphasizes the strength of institution itself and neglects the power of states creating the institution in its explanation of NATO's persistence. and institutionalism optimistically thinks NATO will play an active role in Europe's security structure.Through analysis above , we can find to research NATO have much meaning in theory and reality. NATO's transformation is important to our country's security, the exist ion of NATO in Afghanistan may cause many influences to our country.
