On The Political Culture Of New Democracy

Political culture is a major aspect in the study of modern political science. The changes and developments of political culture plays a leading role in the historical process of social development, therefore, it is theoretically valuable and realistically significant to further the study of political culture. The study of ideology and culture in china has always been the study of both connotation and development of culture in the perspective of political culture. In the historical development of Chinese culture,"the Chinese culture is, in reality, a political culture", esp. the culture in the social revolutionary period was really the Chinese political culture, which is well-acknowledged by the Chinese scholars. In the period of New Democracy, the Chinese revolution was endowed with the tasks to overthrow the three mountains of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat capitalism. Whether from the perspective of political development or social progress, the political culture in the period of New Democracy embodies the tasks and aims of the revolution, and represents the cultural demands and interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people. Therefore, the author argues that the new democratic culture is indeed the new democratic political culture, which epitomizes the advanced culture in the revolutionary period of New Democracy.The political culture of New Democracy, which is deeply rooted in the splendid tradition of the Chinese political culture, under the leadership of CPC with the Marxism as its guiding ideology, came into existence in the period of New Democracy, with the characteristics of revolution, nationality, science, popularity and democracy. It embodies the value orientation and psychological orientation which include the political ideology, psychology, conception and mentality of the Chinese social revolution and the advanced interest group. The new democratic political culture came from the critical inheritance of the Chinese traditional political culture, and realized the elementary sinicization of Marxism by merging it into the Chinese political culture.The new democratic political culture is a special one which serves New Democracy, thus has the characteristic of revolution, and displays the intermingling of nationality and the nature of social classes. It does not belong to the cultural absolutism of the big bourgeoisie in China, nor to the pure proletarian political culture of socialism, but a newly emerging proletarian political culture, which is"a mass anti-imperialist and anti-feudalist democracy under the leadership of the proletarian socialist political culture". The fact of taking Marxism as its guideline determines that the political culture of New Democracy is a new one which is creative and democratic and embodies the common political interest of the Chinese people and their psychological orientation.The appearance of the political culture of New Democracy, which broke the bondage of traditional political culture, refreshed the confidence of the Chinese culture that was faced with a critical choice. It has impelled the historical process of modernization in China by learning from the western advanced culture, resisting all kinds of non-proletarian ideologies, discarding the erosion of capitalist ideology and directing the successful transition from New Democracy to socialism.From the perspective of history, the political culture of the New Democracy gives illumination to socialist political culture and the construction of socialist political culture with Chinese characteristics. The common guiding ideology and the leading class decide that the three come down in one continuous line, with the political culture of New Democracy being the bases of socialist political culture and the modern socialist political culture with Chinese characteristics; from the perspective of development, socialist political culture and the modern socialist political culture with Chinese characteristics are the surpassing and developing of the political culture of New Democracy.
