A Research On The Post-hegemony Cooperation Theory

Conflict and cooperation is one of topics of international relations theory in international society. The human society can not continue without international cooperation. So the countries can only achieve mutual development within cooperation of mutual benefit. Robert·O·Keohane, one of representative figure of"the school of neo-liberty system"which is the Main Schools of contemporary western international relations theory ,sets up post-hegemony cooperation theory. Because of its keen observation and explanatory power to world politics, it can withstand the test of changes for the world politics and economy. Therefore, it becomes mainstream theory of analysis on contemporary international cooperation.The article is a deep study on the post-hegemony cooperation theory. It points out that the core of the theory is the answer to the possibility and the road of post-hegemony cooperation. On its emergence, the author is focus on hegemonic cooperation of new realism before analysis on the theoretical and practical background. He sets up post-hegemony cooperation theory on the base of criticism and support the possibility of post-hegemony cooperation.On the content, the author concludes it for the three parts. Firstly, it distinguishes cooperation from harmony and conflict. It also defines concept for the post-hegemony cooperation. Secondly, it analyzes the possibility of post-hegemony cooperation , including the hypothesis about international anarchy,the relationship between cooperation and power, the benefit and cooperation ,the impact on national behavior and the process of international system. Lastly, Robert·O·Keohane discusses international regime and the functional theory. He acclaims that international regime is an important way to post-hegemony cooperation and how to achieve post-hegemony cooperation.What's more, the author criticizes the theory for its limitations, pointing out the international environment for china and the"opportunity and challenge". The author strongly believe that"combinational and modificational model"is the only strategic choice for china.
