Objective:This topic aimed to investigate the characters and influential factors of the mental health status of maintain security servicemen in Peking Olympic Games, explore the correlation between their mental health and coping style, and observe the effect of intervention to them suffered troubles in order to provide reference and evidence for the building of an effective military mental health system.Methods:By cluster random sampling,643 maintain security military personnel (investigation group) and 592 army men not taking part in maintain security (control group) were investigated with the Mental Disorder Prediction Scale for Servicemen and Military Personnel Scene Trait Coping Style Scale, and the available mental intervention or medication was performed to those produced mental disorders.Results:Compared with control group, there were apparently higher total scores of prediction factor, the each factor score of mental disorders (including psychoticism, depression, mania, neurosis and personality disturbance) of Mental Disorder Prediction Scale for Servicemen and the coping style factor scores of Military Personnel Scene Trait Coping Style Scale in investigation group (t=2.09~7.24, P<0.05 or P<0.01). By linear correlation analysis, except no correlation between the mania factor and the factor of family and past illness history and active coping style (P> 0.05), there was a significant correlation between each fator of psychological diathesis and each fator of coping style (r ranged from-0.24 to 0.69, P<0.01). Among the total, ther were a significant negative correlation between the factors of active coping style (consisting of affection, military affairs, military circumstance, personal development, interpersonal relationship, health and economy) and the factors mental disorders (including psychoticism, depression, mania, neurosis and personality disturbance), namely active coping style in favour of cutting down the occurrence of mental disorders (r ranged from-0.24 to-0.15, P <0.01), while the rest factors show apparente positive correlation, (r ranged from 0.13 to 0.69, P<0.01), in other words, the more high of factor scores, for instance unhealthy growth experience, introversion, stressor, unhealthy defense mechanism, family and past illness history, social support deficiency and passive coping style, the more high of opportunity of mental disorders. The stepwise regression analysis showed that the psychological dysdefense, stressor, personality introvert, growth experience, shot of social support, passive coping, history of past illness and family, and marriage status were the main factors which had affected on mental health of officers and soldiers who attended the maintain security in Peking Olympic Games. According to the total T score of Mental Disorder Prediction Scale for Servicemen exceeding 70, the investigation discovered that it were a different degree influence on the mental health of maintain security military personnel and 8.09% lied unvarying psychological problem which were anxiety, tension, tantrum, self-abasement, self-confidence insufficiency, hypodynamia, work decrement, sleep disorder, headache, feeling of helplessness and impulse. Pharmaceutical and mental intervention had a good effect on them.Conclusion:There was an obviously influence on mental health of servicemen who attended maintain security in Olympic Games, an inherent relationship between coping style and mental disorders, and the main influential factors including the psychological dysdefense, stressor, personality introvert, growth experience, shot of social support, passive coping, history of past illness and family and marriage status, while correct intervention methods could reduce mental problem.
