War and peace are the eternal theme of international politics. As one of the most important geopolitical regions in the world,Southeast Asia maintained a peaceful state relatively after the Cold War.However, The peace in this region is fragile apparently because of existing many controdictions, which is different from the peace phenomenon in West Europ and North America. Athogh there are many territorial disputs, religious conflicts and other potential conflicts, these potential contradictions haven't caused local conflicts, unrests, and even wars. This dissertation uses three major western international relations theories to analyze the conditions that maintain the peace in the southeast Asia after the Cold War. Realism mainly explains peace from the perspective of the power structure, neo-liberal institutionalism mainly understands peace from the perspective of systerm cooperation, constructivism mainly analyze the peace phenomenon from the perspective of ideal interaction and cultrual identity. Using specifically the logical framework of three major theoretical schools to analyze the peace phenomenon of post-Cold War in Southeast Asia,we can find the advantages and limitations of each theory. The peace in southeast Asia is affected by the interaction of southeast Asian countries, the interaction of southeast Asian countries with eatraterritorial powers, and power structure in east Asia. The logical frameworks of three major theoretical schools adapt different factors.Meanwhile, continuing to maintain peace in southeast Asia also depends on the developing trend of the above factors.
