| Australia's special geography, climate and natural condition make it a unique natural ecological environment, also make Australia in a predicament to deal with more environmental problems. As the governing party of Australia, Labor Party makes social democracy as its ideology. Labor Party is the most historical and greatest party in Australia. The aim of this paper is to investigate the causes of the formulation of Federal Labor Government's environmental protection policies and to summarize the effects and its main difficulties through Labor Government's main policies on environmental protection which is a hot issue in the world.The first part of this paper summarizes and analysises the formation and development of Labor's environmental protection policies since 1970th to outline the evolvement and development of Labor's environmental protection policies in the latest forty years.Secondly, this part summarizes the main content of Federal Labor Government's environmental protection policies in this century to prepare for the analysis and comment in the next part.The third part analysises the main causes of Federal Labor Government's positive attitude to environmental problem. Then, gets the conclusion that both the internal and external causes affect Federal Labor Government's policies.Lastly, this part summarizes and analysises the effects of Federal Labor Government's environmental policies and the difficulties during their implement.
