Anti-communism is a kind of political ideology that aiming at opposing communism. Its characteristic is opposing communism ideology, organization and government. American anti-communism has a long historical evolvement. It sprouts up in America in the 1970's. From then on, American anti-communism exists all the way, especially after the emerging of the Soviet Union regime, American anti-communism becomes seriously to a higher degree. During the Cold War, it develops so much. This thesis'theme is just the practice and roots of American anti-communism during the Cold War. It tries to reveal the roots of the two different systems'opposition during the Cold War through the research.The main content of this thesis describes as follows. The first chapter describes the produce and development of the American anti-communism from the history point of view. American anti-communism sprouts up in America in the 1970's. It is mainly aiming at the radicalism which includes the communism. After the Paris Commune Revolution, America appears the first anti-communism practice. After the October Revolution of Russia, America appears the second anti-communism practice. During the Cold War, the practice of American anti-communism infiltrates in the fields of politics, economy, and culture and so on. It presents the characteristic of omni bearing anti-communism.After the Second World War, with the appearance of some socialistic countries in East Europe and Asia, American anti-communism not only shows in the anti-communism and anti-democracy in the states, but also in its foreign policy to the socialist countries. The second chapter of this thesis mainly discusses America's anti-communism practice in the fields of politics, economy and culture during the cold war. The anti-communism practice in the field of politics includes the anti-communism practice in the diplomatic and domestic fields. The anti-communism practice in the field of economy includes economic blockade and commercial embargo, economic sanction and external support. The anti-communism practice in the field of culture includes the anti-communism propaganda of the mass media, church and Hollvwood. The produce and development of American anti-communism has its own profound foundation. The third chapter discusses the foundation of American anti-communism. Besides the opposition of the two regimes and ideologies of capitalism and socialism, and America's cultural background and national characteristics, some motivate elements just like socialist state's anti-America propaganda and policy fault also create conditions for the produce and development of the America's anti-communism.American anti-communism activities during the cold war fabricate an abominable political, economic and public opinion environment for the socialist states, and it also influences the image of the socialist state. After the cold war, American anti-communism does not disappear; it goes along with varieties of forms. It is good for the smooth development of socialist states to correctly understanding and grasping the history of American anti-communism. And it has theoretical and realistic significance to correctly understanding and grasping America's policy to the socialist states and the relationship between the two regimes and ideologies of capitalist and socialist countries under the condition of globalization.
