The Transformation Of Russian Foreign Policy And The Evolution Of Sino-Russian Relations

With the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War, the Russian foreign policy is on the process of evolution, and Russia shows the uncertain attitude to some fields of diplomacy in practice. The evolutional diplomacy and the uncertainty of the detailed policy indicate that new political and economic system of the Russia is still under reconstruction so that it has to regulate the foreign relation on one hand. On the other hand, the negative effects on material and spirit derived from the system reform makes Russia disconnect the policy and action in the diplomacy practice.Entering the new century, Russia, for the sake of interest, still made some changes to adapt itself to the complex situation in the state relations. Russian diplomatic has definite composition. At the same time, it indicates that Russia is always concerning about the relationship with the countries from important area, however, the cooperation with others countries, conflicts of interest, and the selection and apply of strategic orientation and mutual checks reflect Russian major choices about mainstream awareness of domestic politics for international relationship. The special concerning about the CIS and EU demonstrates Russian diplomacy takes an absolute priority and relative priority in the external contacts.This thesis will investigate the whole process of the development of the Russian foreign policy and analyze the major prospect and the reason of the Russian foreign policy at different times.Sino-Russian relations play an extremely important role in Russian external contacts. It influences the regional safety and basic pattern of international relationships. It's of great significance to follow the principle of good-neighborly friendly cooperation and keep the stability of the relationship between Russia and China, despite of Russian changing diplomacy strategy. Sino-Russian relations have developed stably for more than ten years since the establishment of strategic partnership of cooperation in 1996. Especially in Putin presidency, the relationship between Sino-Russian relations have made substantial progress, the two countries also constantly enhance the political trust and strengthened cooperation in counterterrorism continuously, and the economic cooperation has also been great. This thesis will maintain a well control over the development of the Sino-Russian relations from post-cold war to the post-Putin era, and analyze and research on their intrinsic and external reasons. In addition, this thesis will prospect the development potential of the Sino-Russian relations at last.
