Food Safety And International Trade

Food trade is an important part of the international trade. Nowadays, the food safety issue is concerned by more and more people, and it has become one of the most important hinder to the international food trade. The Chinese export of food is also influenced a lot by the food safety problem. Mainly, the influence of the food safety issue on the international food trade is in the way of the food safety trade measures or the food safety trade barriers.This paper can be divided into three parts. The first part introduces the influence of the food safety issue on the international food trade in the first part.In the second part I try to find the reason for this influence, for example, the difference between the food safety trade measures, the problem with the WTO rules and the food safety problem of the export country are the main reason for this influence. In this part, the problem with the WTO rules is the most important part. So I use the famous case, the EU-Biotech Case, to analyze the problem with the WTO rules and the panel report. In this part, I also use China as an example to show the problem inside the export country.In the third part, I try to give some advice on how to overcome the hinder food safety issue provide. In this part, I also use China as the example.As a conclusion, the food trade is a very important part of the international trade, and the food safety problem is a very important hinders for the food trade, and the Chinese food trade is also influenced a lot by the food safety problem. Therefore, it is very important to analyze how the food safety problem influences the food trade, and to give advice based on these reasons.
