With the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the dissolution of the Warsaw Treaty Organization, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) became the most remarkable military and political allied organization in the world during the post-Cold War period. In order to seek for a new orientation, NATO had been trying to adjust its strategies during the later more than ten years. Therefore, NATO brought forward the Peacekeeping Partnership Project which aimed to strengthen the military security cooperation with non-NATO countries in 1991,and came to the Peacekeeping Partnership Agreement with Central Asian countries in 1999. But NATO paid more attention to the course of eastward expansion at that time, also affected by the geographic factors etc.,so NATO's activities in Central Asian was not that fruitful. As 9/11 terrorist attack events took place, Central Asia and Afghanistan became the front line in international anti-terrorism battle. Along with the anabasis of US and NATO army, Central Asia and Afghanistan came into the top-priority scope of USA's diplomatic policies. Meanwhile, NATO began to strengthen the Peacekeeping Partnership Project with Central Asian countries, and intended to build a long-term management in Central Asia. NATO's activities became more and more active. After the Andijan Event, impacted by the factors of US-Uzbekistan bilateral relationship deterioration and Uzbekistan's mistrust on western powers, NATO met frustrations in taking activities in Central Asia. However, NATO resumed some of them in recent years. This thesis carded the background and reasons of NATO's entering into Central Asia after 9/11,and the activity track later, elaborated the effects on Central Asian condition and circumjacent great powers of NATO's entering, and brought out some consideration of countermeasures that China could adopt.
