Job burnout is also known as occupational depletion or occupational burnout. It is a common phenomenon of all employees. Job burnout affects employee's physical and mental health. Therefore, the study of employees'burnout has great significance for personal growth, and long-term development of enterprise, and the construction of harmonious society. Hydropower staff is a special group, which is the study object of this research.Basing in literature analysis, the study firstly carried on open questionnaire survey to 68 hydropower staff. Secondly the study proposed theory conception of burnout of hydropower staff in the foundation of the representative theory in domestic and foreign area. Thirdly the study established job burnout questionnaire with good reliability and validity. We used the questionnaire to survey 319 hydropower staff in Southwest, and studied the characteristic of their burnout, and discussed influencing factors. Then we further researched the relation between job burnout and mental health of hydropower staff in Southwest. Finally, we interviewed two hydropower staff with different job burnout, which further confirmed the validity and the reliability of theory conception of job burnout.The main results of the research are listed as follows:1) Job burnout is a system with multi-dimensions. It has professional particularity. The job burnout of hydropower staff mainly includes job discontented, work suspected and work escape.2) Hydropower staff in Southwest has certain understanding and feeling about job burnout. The degree of their burnout is in medium level as a whole.3) The job burnout questionnaire, established by this research, has good reliability and validity.4) The job burnout of hydropower staff in Southwest has remarkable difference by sex and service length.5) Work suspected and job discontented of hydropower staff in Southwest has remarkable forward relation with body symptom and anxious. So we can use work suspected and job discontented to remarkably forecast body symptom and anxious. Work suspected and depression have remarkable forward relation. So we can use work suspected to remarkably forecast depression. In a word, using many kinds of methods, the study researched and confirmed the structure of burnout of hydropower staff from many aspects. The study also inspected the relation between burnout and mental health. But we should make further research about function mechanism and solution measure of job burnout.
