Thoughts Of The Relationship Between The Deliberative Democracy And The Construction Of The Harmonious Society

Deliberative democracy, which was originated from Ancient Greek, had been disappeared for thousands of years due to interference of the upper rulers'will. The Western political fields paid attention to deliberative democracy again and set off a renaissance in the study of this theory to mediate multicultural conflict, remedied the defect of ballot-box decision, improved the forms of contemporary western democracy, and consolidated the western political order until 1980s. The object of deliberative democracy is to mediate the conflicting of interests of different groups and to achieve reasonable public policies. Deliberative democracy emphasizes the equality and the rationality of negotiators, also the openness and the inclusiveness during negotiations. China, who is in a period of social transition, is in face of an important strategic task to construct a harmonious socialist society. At the right time, domestic scholars appreciated the reference value of deliberative democracy and introduced it into China. At first, this paper expatiates on the meaning, headspring, vanishing and rebirth of deliberative democracy. Then, it tries to explain the value of deliberative democracy and it's feasibility in China. On this basis, the paper takes the question of reality which exists in the process of the construction of a harmonious socialist society as the starting point and tries mainly to explore how to develop deliberative democracy correctly in modern China.
