XiaoKang,which has been pursued by Chinese people for thousands of years,is the social ideal of aspiration and goal. XiaoKang inspired Chinese people, especially the Chinese Communist Party, to make further efforts.The introduction of well-off society was described in the Book of Songs, which point out people worked all day long in order to get a comfortable life. In modern times, the ideal of XiaoKang has been given further meaning. Kang Youwei contributed greatly to the progress of it, and he viewed the society as a constant process of evolving and developing, then he divided the process of society into three steps. In the later of 19th century and earlier of 20th, Sun Zhongshan established the DaTong ideal and discussed the modernization of China's development patterns. Although our ancient ideologist made different designs, it did not come true. However, the pursuits of well-off society have never stopped.As the society move forward, Mao Zedong put forward the goal of communism, class elimination and Datong, but unfortunately the goal was not realized eventually.After the Tired Plenary Session of the CPC Eleventh Central Committee, Deng Xiaoping said:"the four modernizations we are striving to achieve are modernizations with Chinese characteristics,""A well-off society is a new concept of Chinese-type modernization."It contains double connotations. In this foundation, he depicted blueprint of well-off society and put forward"the-three step"development strategy. We have been striving for building a well-off society from then on. At turn of the century, Jiang Zemin put forward the goal of the well-off society in an all-round way, which was interpreted from the aspects of politic, economy, culture, ecology. The present of the"new three-step"development strategy which made the goal more realistic. In the new century, Hu Jintao, representing by the CPC Central Committee, put forward five new requirements about building the well-off society overall which not only enriched and promoted Deng Xiaoping's thinking of well-off society, but also showed our determination to build the well-off society in an all-round way along the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
