Concrete concept is the starting point if we want to understand any theory. "Individual" concept is the starting point when Marx carried out theoretical discussion, and it is also the key to understand Marx's theory. The developmental stage of Marx's "individual" is same to Marx's thoughts, from idealism to human-idealism and to historical materialism at last. So, if we want to know the great revolution of individual theory by Marx and the consistent humanistic care of Marx's theory, we should study the concept connotation and developmental logic of Marx's "individual".Therefore, the concept connotation and development logic of Marx's "individual" are the breakthrough points in this paper, including four parts. The first part is about the ideological origin of Marx's "individual". In this part, we try to know more about Marx's individual theory in his mature period and the individual freedom and liberation that he paid attention to, by studying Marx how to understand "individual" when he was young. The second part is the paper's focal point. On the basis of above study, we try to know the "individual" concept carrying on the detailed explanation. Marx's "individual" has experienced four developmental stages. From emphasizing free self-consciousness is human "genus essence" to emphasizing human nature is the unity of perceptual activity, to realistic individual, to free individuality at last. The third part is logical analysis, including four parts. We will focus on practical activities of Marx, to find evolution of individuals. At first, Marx criticized the feudal autocracy and religious mysticism. Then, in the process of engaging in practical activities, Marx concerned about the material interests and changed to the materialism and Communism. On the basis of the criticism of the reality of Capitalism, Marx constructed an ideal future society with "free individuality". "Free individuality" is the highest stage of individual concept. In the fourth part of this paper, I try to analysis practical and theoretical significance of Marx's individual concept.Marx's "individual" concept based on the criticism of previous philosophers' unreasonable assertions. Marx started from individual's perceptual activity and pointed out the "realistic individual" have double property of nature existence and social existence. Marx emphasized consistency of personal development and social development. On the basis of the criticism of the reality of Capitalism, Marx has constructed an ideal future society with "free individuality", that is, individuals can achieve harmonious development of nature, society and individual independently. Undoubtedly, Marx's "individual" concept has important theoretical value and a wide range of practical significance to solve the personal problems in the contemporary society and especially in western society.
