The Study For Social Support System Of The Elderly Left Behind In Rural

Social support is a kind of social behavior which emerges with vulnerable groups. In the 70s of 20th century, Western countries first proposed the theory of social support, then domestic scholars introduced this concept in the 80s of 20th century, and carried out some extensive and deep researchs on social support of some domestic vulnerable groups. The elderly left behind in rural which emerged with the process of urbanization and industrialization is a special and huge elderly group, their problems have become a heavy topic we can not avoid. As the children go out, the elderly left behind in rural face some problems and difficulties such as heavier labor burdens, care for grandchildren, loss of life care, lack of spiritual comfort. These problems and difficulties make their social support needs on financial, medical, spiritual and life care particularly. However, there is few of the home and abroad researchs on the elderly left behind in rural from the theory of social support study for social support system of the elderly left behind in rural. In order to understand the present situation of social support of elderly people left behind in rural and build a new social support system, in order to provide theoretical foundation and policy recommendations on alleviating and solving the social support issues of the elderly left behind in rural, this study on the basis of a lot of surveys and case interviews.The thesis includes six chapters:Chapter 1 is the Introduction, this part discusses the background, theoretical basis, study design and innovations; Chapter 2 introduces the present situation of the elderly left behind in rural, including the overall present situation of the elderly left behind in rural of China, the present situation of the elderly left behind in rural of Henan Province, social support needs of the elderly left behind in rural; Chapter 3, on the basis of a quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis of survey datas, analyses the present situation of social support of elderly left behind in rural. Social support system of the elderly left behind in rural was divided into four aspects:economic support, health care support, emotional support, life care and practical support, we respectively introduce the present situation of social support of the elderly left behind in rural on the above four aspects which come form various formal main bodies and informal main bodies, explore the outstanding problems and do a simple analysis of the reasons; Chapter 4, againsting the outstanding problems, we try to construct a leading of formal social support and new social support system for the elderly left behind in rural. It is divided two parts: we must establish and improve formal social support systems and perfect informal social support systems. The first part includes:improving the rural old-age social welfare system, promoting rural social work to specialization, institutionalization and standardization, strengthening community care and community development of rural, encouraging the establishment of the organizations for the rural elderly. The scond part includes:enhancing the function of family care of old people, improve and strengthen the neighborhood, strengthening the emotional connection between friends and relatives.
