Research On The Current Situation And Strategy About Social Work Profession In Universities Of Hubei District

The paper discussed the achievements, difficulties and the reasons we facing the predicament of social work professional education in the university of Hubei district. The paper is based on the existing research results with sociology theory as guidance, taking the teachers and students of social work in Hubei district as investigation object, combining the quantitative and qualitative research methods. Full text content as follows:Firstly, the paper described the achievements in social work major education in Hubei district during the 10 years.it seemed that the achievements are not only in the increasing number of university which established the social work major and the geographical distribution of such universities more reasonable, but also in the promotion of enrolment scale, the level of university, teaching conditions and so on. Especially, the teachers and students of social work major in Hubei district are trying hard to participate the practice of the localization of social work.Secondly, the paper investigated the difficulties in the social work major in Hubei district. Many difficulties emerge in the process of actual operation of social work major in the universities in Hubei district. It contents five aspects. First, it is difficult to enroll enough students as the low identification to this major; Second, the characteristics of personnel training aims are not prominent; Third, the difficulties in placing more emphasis on sociology theory than practice; Fourth, the lack in the hardware and software facilities Fifth, the difficult problem of employment of graduates of social work major.These difficulties severely restricted the development of social work education in Hubei district.Thirdly, the paper analyzed the reasons of the difficulties arising in social work major education in the university of Hubei district. These reasons mainly refer to three aspects. First, the channel of social assistance are not smooth because of the mind full of traces of traditional culture and the assistant system controlled by the government which result in the crisis of identification. Second, the unbalance between the social work education and the professional development which result in the contradiction of the development of social work and the fuzzy need of the society. Third, the dilemma between the teaching and learning resources due to taking a course hastily, neglecting the professional practice and identity education and the distinctive in the economic and location conditions of universities. Above these reasons which not only restricted the scale of development of the social work profession, but aiso affected the quality of training.Finally, the paper discussed the countermeasures of solving those difficulties. First, the methods of policy support and advocacy should be adapted to speed up the process of professionalization of social work and strengthen the social identification; Second, personnel training should be combined with the need of market, locating personnel training, enhancing the quality of professional training and establishing the new role of professional teachers. Third, to establish the local professional education association, strengthen the education administration and supervision, then to ensure that the rules of social work professional education and improving the quality of education. Fourth, the communication platform should be established from the aspects of teacher resources, academic exchange, training base and the books to realize the resource sharing.In conclusion, the major of social work in Hubei district is a new emerging forces and it has been an important part of the high education in Hubei district. Although many achie vements have been obtained, at the same time, we should not ignore the difficulties and th e reasons. Furthermore, we should not neglect the development of social work as the talen t supply being false "excess". So, it is our responsibility to seek methods to solve the diffi culties in the development of social work major in Hubei district.
