Cheerleading is a new sport, which has been the favorite by many countries in a short time because of its special charm. Cheerleading is a sport launched by the United States on campus, which widely spread among young people, especially in college students. It not only comes up to the wish of college students' self-expression and the release of self-desire, at the same time it plays an important role in improving the physical quality, creating a good psychological quality and improving social adaptability of university students.Cheerleading is a sport completing superb cheerleading specific motor skills in combination with a variety of dance movements by players in the backdrop of music; it reflects the vigor, healthy and positive team spirit.The research object of this essay is the study on the status of college cheerleading in Shanghai; it adopts the methods of literature material, questionnaire survey, interview and so on. Analyze the situation of the status of college cheerleading in Shanghai through athletes and coaches questionnaire and interview of experts, including players, coaches, training and competition and so on. The paper analyses the influence of cheerleading for students and the impact of campus culture, to identify problems in the development cheerleading and gives some suggestions for the further development of college cheerleading in Shanghai. It found that the status of college cheerleading in Shanghai in good condition, mostly in the form of team. Some schools have a fixed cheerleading, a small part of the schools temporarily organize teams based on the annual race. Most athletes are not the students of physical education department, so most have nothing to do with sports after graduation. Most athletes do not have the basis of the sport associated with cheerleading. They are mostly girls and like cheerleading. Most of the coaches graduated from China's sports faculty, have the high positive and general operational capacity. Cheerleading has meaning to improve the physical quality, shapes the psychological quality and cultivates the social adaptability of college students. It has a good role in promoting Shanghai campus culture, especially improves the spiritual and cultural campus. Found some questions, for example, the government, school and association did not attach importance to cheerleading; competition is not carried out systematic; they put less funding for cheerleading, reward players less and train of trainers in the form and content of a single. In order for the further development of Shanghai University Cheerleading, this essay suggests that strengthen the government's intervention force and the management of coaches and athletes.
