Problems And Measures To Be Taken In Security Guard In L University

The importance of security guard in colleges is decided by colleges'features, such as the great number of merits, information intensity, political sensibility and great influences and so on. Thirty years since the Reform and Opening-up Policy, higher education in our country has achieved great success with rapid development in different managements. Comparatively, the development of security guard is rather slow, causing a great many accidents in colleges. This even holds back the development of colleges. L-University, as a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, has been facing serious situations recently, as number of accidents and cases such as fire, traffic accident, break-in and so on grows up. L University is confronted with serious security guard problems, therefore, it is important to study the security guard in L University for its security management improvement.Taking experiences from over ten years'security guard work in L University, the writer of this paper adopts field study, and use comprehensively means such as literature review, interview, and case analysis under the guidance of theories from Security Studies, Public Administration, Laws. Problems existing in L University security guard and their reasons are analyzed, and six measures to be taken are put forward, namely, improving leadership system, improve the quality of personnel, strengthen precautions against crime, advance the construction of laws, promote system reform of security sector and establish long-term mechanism. Hopefully, this study will aid the development of security guard in L University, and offer references to college security management.
