| The principal assistants present a fundamental role that assists the work of principals in the school management. The role identification of the principal assistants is the key to get their anticipated work done. In other words, the principal assistants, based on their correct educational views, identify the basic changes that may arise from the school education, daily teaching, and school leadership. Along with the integration and optimization of the educational institutions, the principal assistants have grown to be an unnegligible role of great significance.However, the principal assistants have their own puzzlements in identifying the roles. This is best shown as:their daily tasks and roles are vague; their responsibilities are unclear; they are stuck in a dilemma between students and teachers, schools and other organizations, as well as teachers and senior managers, etc. Whether there are sufficient resources, the principal assistants are always highly expected to carry out reforms. Their colleagues in the schools have their own fixed views on the role of principal assistants as well. Consequently, only by surpassing these puzzlements in role identification can the principal assistants play better roles and realize their professional growths.The author, based on site observations and descriptions, according to her own experience, summarizes and analyzes the role awareness, actions and expectations of principal assistants. It is pointed out that the puzzlements of principal assistants originate from their unclear awareness of self- and unself-characters, the embarrassment that arises when actions are made, and the expectations put upon by all walks of life in the new era including principals, managerial staff, teachers, parents and even students, etc.This study aims to comply with the development of the era and the needs of new curriculum reforms, figure out more effective pointcuts, shed deeper insights into the daily life of principal assistants, experience their puzzlements to be surpassed, focus on their growth process in a more direct and vivid way, and explore the ideas and practices of their role identification. Being actively involved in and striving to be an innovative principal assistant who is able to contribute to improving the education is a great goal that deserves the joint efforts and devotion of all principal assistants. |
