This thesis takes the teaching of character description in narrative writing of Grade Seven as the research object,and uses literature research method,questionnaire survey method,case analysis method,interview method and statistical method to carry out investigation and research.According to the results of the investigation of the current situation,the thesis sorts out the problems existing in the teaching of character description of narrative writing in grade seven.The main problems on the teacher’s aspect are: the teaching knowledge system of character description writing needs to be improved,the knowledge and methods of character description writing are not explained sufficiently,the writing arrangement is too much for exam-oriented training and less special training is given,the guidance after writing is insufficient,and the operability is not strong.The main problems on the student’s aspect are: insufficient awareness and knowledge of character description writing,lack of organization and standard in character description writing,the practice of writing does not match the passion for writing,lack of effective accumulation of reading volume and vocabulary.The reasons for the above problems can be summarized in three aspects.First of all,teachers do not pay enough attention to the teaching of character description in narrative writing,teachers lack teaching knowledge of character description writing,the teaching methods of character description writing are backward,and the main body status of students is not highlighted.Secondly,students are afraid of difficulties in the writing of character description,students are not serious about the writing of character description,students lack effective observation of life characters,and students’ extracurricular accumulation and practice of character description are not sufficient.Finally,the deficiency of exam-oriented writing teaching mode,textbook content and related research literature constitutes a bad educational environment.In view of the above problems,the thesis puts forward three teaching strategies.First of all,teachers can enhance students’ writing interest in character description by training students’ ability to observe the characters around them and carrying out student-oriented writing teaching of character description.Secondly,teachers can optimize the teaching methods of character description in narrative writing by carrying out diversified writing practices,emphasizing the read-write migration teaching of character description,using the teaching method based on situational experience and applying the character description evaluation form.Finally,teachers can develop character description writing teaching resources by building character description writing knowledge library,enriching character description writing method library,developing character description case library and language library.
