As the popularity of university education, more and more high school students can walk into university halls, everyone wants to enter better colleges, selects better specialties, but good colleges are not sufficient, and college enrollment rates for good specialties are limited, so many people can not go into a good college to study a good specialty for a variety of reasons, this is especially typical for social science students in engineering colleges. Social science students are often neglected in engineering colleges ,most of such students have lower specialty commitment,the resons for that are from both external aspects such as socity and colleges, and internal aspects such as personality or other qualities.The study subjects of the research are social science students in engineering colleges, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (adult),General self-efficacy Scale (GSES) and Specialty Commitment Inventory of Undergraduates are used for the test of personality characteristics, self-efficacy and specialty commitment of social science students in engineering colleges. Personality, self-efficacy and specialty commitment are emperically studied, their relationships and their intrinsic psychological mechanism are analyzed. This exploration is significant in either theoretical or practical aspects, it can contribute to the theory of specialty commitment and enhance the specialty education of the social science students in engineering colleges. SPSS16.0 software is used to analyze the data, some conclusions are drawn from the processing:( 1 )The specialty commitment level to demographic variables for social science students in engineering colleges is significantly different .( 2 )The relationship between personality and specialty commitment for social science students in engineering colleges is significant. ( 3 )The relationship between self-efficacy and specialty commitment for social science students in engineering colleges is significant.( 4 )The relationship between self-efficacy and personality for social science students in engineering colleges is significant, and personality is a predictive variable of self-efficacy.( 5 )The relationship among specialty commitment, self-efficacy and personality for social science students in engineering colleges is significant,and personality and self-efficacy are predictive variables of specialty commitment.
