Research On The Relationship Among College Students' Trait Anxiety, Initiative Personality, Career Adaptation Behavior And Career Commitment

In recent years,the employment situation of college students has become increasingly severe,and the employment of college students will be affected by their career development status.Research on the career development of college students has become a research hotspot.Under this background,it is very practical to explore the influence mechanism of college students' career development.This study starts from the measurement of college students' career development process,and explores the relationship among college students' trait anxiety,proactive personality,career adapting responses,and career commitment.This research has two parts:Study 1 revised the Student Career Construction Inventory(SCCI)into Chinese version.The results show that:(1)the revised SCCI has 16 items,including the four dimensions of(a)Crystallizing a vocational self-concept,(b)Exploring to gather information about occupations,(c)Deciding to commit to an occupational choice,and(d)Preparing to implement that choice.The coefficient of consistency ? is 0.907,and the split-half reliability is 0.809.The total inventory and each dimension were significantly correlated with the effect standard variables.The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the constructed model fit well.Study 2 explored the relationship among trait anxiety,proactive personality,career adapting response and career commitment,and focused on examining the mediating effect of career adapting response.The result shows:(1)The average score of trait anxiety of college students is close to the median of 2.5;the average score of proactive personality,career adapting response and career commitment is above the median.But the average score of career exploration dimension is below the median of 3.(2)in some demographic variables,there are significant differences in students' proactive personality,career adapting response,and career commitment scores.(3)There is a significant correlation among the four variables.(4)Career adapting response plays a significant and complete mediating role between trait anxiety and career commitment.(5)Career adapting response acts as a significant mediator between proactive personality and career commitment.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)The revised Chinese version of the Student Career Construction inventory has good reliability and validity,and it can be used as an effective tool to measure the progress of college students' career development.(2)The level of trait anxiety ofChinese college students is higher than that of Chinese norm;the level of exploring external professional environments of Chinese students is low,and is lower than that of foreign college students.(3)The levels of proactive personality,career adapting response and career commitment of urban college students are higher than those of rural college students;Higher grades show more career adapting response than lower grades.(4)Trait anxiety,proactive personality,career adapting response and career commitment are significantly correlated.(5)Trait anxiety can negatively predict career commitment,but the effect is transmitted entirely through career adapting response.(6)Proactive personality can positively predict career commitment,and this influence is transmitted in part through career adapting response.
