Though the issue of "unemployment after graduation" has caused social concern for these years, the theory is still at an exploratory stage. In this article, a grounded theory approach has been applied to study the employability of the graduates in China. The aim of this study is analyzing the first-hand data deeply by using the ground theory approach and constructing the structural model of employability for the graduates in China which is localization and meaningful. Otherwise, the quantitative methods are also used to verify the correlations in the model.As there're few empirical studies and its separation with the qualitative research, this paper attempts to combine both of them to study on the employment problems of graduates in China. The study carries out depth interviews with 33 people involved and three levels of data coding. Then, the structure model of employability for the graduates in China has been built which shows that the certain occupational conditions and career awareness as well as professional capacity are closely related with the employability of the graduates in China. The paper conducts a questionnaire survey and statistical analysis to test the propose hypotheses. The employability structure model of the graduates in china is built to provide a guide for the graduates and its overall effect is remarkable in this paper.Finally, the paper summaries the limitations and shortcomings in the study and discusses the direction for the future. The paper also gives suggestions from the perspective of the graduates, the career guidance office in universities, the government departments and the recruit department in enterprises to improve the employment situation of the graduates.
