Values are the soul of people's thoughts, as well as the guide of their behavior. It is very important for the Chinese undergraduates, as the mainstay in the future, to establish proper values. To some degree, the values of the undergraduates collectively reflect the values of the whole society and represent the trend of change of values in the future China. The importance of educating the contemporary undergraduates' values is well accepted in the different layers of the society and highly concerned by the academia. Under the circumstances of globalization, the society asks new questions and new requirements on the education of the undergraduates' values, therefore, the finding of breakthrough of the education is vital to numerous ideological and political educationists. This article dissected the concept of the undergraduates' values and certain basic related theories and also illustrated the present situation, existing issues, and cause and effect of the values, as well as analyzed the methods of education of values under the current situation.Based on the educational work of the college student values, this study focused on the strategies for the value education. Some new approaches of the education on the college student values were conducted in present study.Some basic concepts and theories have been presented, status of college student values and its related problems, causes and results have been analyzed.In this paper, we discussed our points of view in four parts.In the first chapter, we elaborated the concept, contents and structure of the undergraduate's values and also summarized the impact factors during their formation, the function, and the characteristics on the values. In the second chapter, we discussed the current situation of the undergraduates'values and pointed out the existing problems, negative effect, and the cause of existing problems. In chapter three, some ideas on strategies for the education of undergraduates values have been proposed against five impact parts:economic system transition, undesirable impacts on the undergraduates from western culture, inchoation of omni-directional environment for value education, lag of value education in the colleges, negative influences of Internet on undergraduates values and personal grown impacts. Strategies of the value education include:improve the educational environment (macro environment and campus environment), inherit and innovation, guide current college students with core values, enhance the Internet environment construction and carry self-value education work. On the basis of strategy researches, new approaches to the education of undergraduates values have been illustrated in chapter four. In this chapter, on one hand, applications of values clarification, Maslow's hierarchy of needs, peer group theory and organizational behavior modification on the value education were discussed. On the other hand, new educational methods including hierarchical value education, emotional integration education and diverse pattern of education were tested as well.
