Research On The Current Situation And Countermeasures Of Undergraduates' Career Adaptation In Colleges And Universities

With the rapid development of modern society, college students’ low employment has become a serious problem. College students are increasingly concernedabout their own career developmentand, and the requirements of a company for college students are higher and higher.Career adaptability is a new theoretic growing point in the foreign field in recent years which is considered to be the corecompetencies to adapt and maintain the the balance of career role in the changing modern society. Thereby, carrying out the study of college students’ career adaptabilityis is of great significance for the current Higher Education Reform in ourcountry, the needs of social enterprises and college students’ own development.This study takes interviews and questionnaires of 470 students, some career counseling teachers and parents by `University Student’s Career Adaptability Inventory’. The data obtained are computed and analyzed by the statistical software SPSS 21.0. The results show that the present situation and questions of college students’ career adaptabilityis. The study discusses the relations between college students’ career adaptability and their perception of life satisfaction, and also find the key ingredients of college students’ career adaptabilityis. The major findings are as follows: 1. Currently, the developmental level of Chinese college students’ career adaptability is little higher than the middle level, but the dimensions of internal structure are showing unbalanced development that the students have higher career concern and lower career control. 2. At grade, the curve of the score just like the shape of “N”. The development has greater volatility. Grade 3 has the lowest level. 3. There is significant positive correlation between the scores of college students’ career adaptability and Life Satisfaction of College Students, major satisfaction. But more than half of college students is unhappy with their college life and majors. 4. There is significant positive correlation between the scores of college students’ career adaptability and the level of career help from families. But, about 63% of families cann’t support enough career help to college students. 5. Nowadays, the coverage of career counseling in colleges and universities is narrow. But, about 42% of college students have not received career counseling which only pay attention to major introduction and job training but lack of a clearlydefined goal of quality education.On the base of empirical research and the interview investigation, this study suggests that In the process of cultivating college students’ career adaptability, college students should be more positive. Parents should make up the lack of family career education、pay attention to family style construction and provide more career help for their children. The university should strengthen the subjective role in career education, and the government needs to steer establishing trade relations between family, university and enterprise for raising the levels of college student’s career adaptability.
