Cooperative learning,first put forward American in 1970's,achieved the substantial progress in the mid 1970s and 1980s and thereafter has developed to be a creative and effective teaching theory and strategy. It plays an active and effective role in aspects such as in improving the social-psychology atmosphere of the class,in promoting the interaction and co-development between students and their mastering of the sports skills as well as in developing the good non-cognitive psychology qualities,etc.Researches and experiments on the cooperative learning did not crop up until the late 1980s and early 1990s.Thereafter it has carried out in a nationwide extensively and triggered a surge of new-round curriculum reform, especially in recent years.The State Department definitely states in Reform and Development of Basic Education Curriculum:"to encourage cooperation learning,to promote mutual communication and common development between students and to benefit teachers and students as well."In order to further implement the new curriculum standards of Sports and Health,the author, with the knowledge of the individual differences,proposes to apply the group cooperative learning in teaching the basic basketball techniques in P.E.class in colleges and universities.With the combination of the specialty of PE teaching and the advantages of the group cooperative learning,the author makes a theoretical and practical study of the following aspects,such as grouping,organization,evaluation and feasibility of the group cooperative learning in teaching the basic basketball techniques in P.E.class in Taizhou colleges and universities.Based on the 16 weeks'experiments on the group cooperative teaching among two classes of the students (total 96) of Grade 2009 in Taizhou Institute of Science and Technology and the application of the methods of studying the literature material,the teaching practice, the questionnaire and the mathematical statistics,the group cooperative teaching has been proved to be of great significance for improving the students'study-and enhancing the students'confidence in teaching the basic basketball techniques in P.E.class in colleges and universities in Taizhou.Meanwhile, it can be helpful to enforce the students'abilities of cooperative study and autonomous study through the continuous communication and cooperation in the teaching process.Through a semester's group cooperative learning and the statistic analysis of relevant data, this study has proved its feasibility and effectiveness in teaching the basic basketball techniques in P.E. class in colleges and universities in Taizhou because it can make the learners show their individuality better, improve their autonomous study and master the basic basketball techniques better.In addition,there still exist certain disadvantages in group cooperative learning and teaching the basic basketball techniques in P.E.class in colleges and universities in Taizhou,which therefore requires the better combination of the advantages of the group cooperative learning and the specialty of P.E. teaching in the future study and teaching practice in order to make full use of both of their advantages in group cooperative learning and teaching the basic basketball techniques in P.E.class.
