At the beginning of 2008,《Data Management》has been introduced into the Shanghai Information Technology course for the senior high school. At the early period, in the teaching process of the database systems, such as Foxbase, FoxPro, we always teach the database as the first place. But in the course of the《Data Management》, we have to lay emphasis on cultivate students'awareness of that, encourage them to design the database. From the operation to the design, the module of the teaching is the most essential change in the course. But due to the shortage of the teaching experience and the teaching materials, there is only a few schools in Shanghai to instruct the students to learn how to manage the statistics.Based on two years'educational research on teaching materials and analysis of students'learning ability, the researcher designed a thorough teaching strategy on Data Management, which comprises 3 chapters. This strategy is developed through the process of assumption-pilot study-experiment-reflection-revision-retrial in teaching. This article also provides detailed teaching plans involving teaching objectives, teaching strategies, teaching procedures, and teaching evaluations. A new way of giving examples in data management teaching is to illustrate with one example throughout the class. Besides, teaching materials on data management are added to the online teaching platform and thus provide much convenience for the teachers to give students formative and summative evaluations.Database Design is not only the core of the course but a difficulty and a breakthrough in curriculum reform. Through teaching practice and reflection on students'learning, I conclude that the teaching strategy designed for Data Management is practical and feasible. To illustrate with the same one example calls for more preparation work on the teacher's part, but students can benefit more than before in that it enables students to keep coherency in thinking and to accomplish different tasks during the teaching. It has proved that students can thoroughly understand the concept of database design and are able to form the thinking of managing data by means of database management system.The research is the pioneer in the curricular of data management and has received recognition and affirmation from many experts in this field. Regardless of many hardships during the process, the research is rewarding and fruitful in that valuable advice on data management teaching is offered. The researchers will make persistent efforts in order to make further achievements.
