With the English teaching scale getting enlarged continuously, English teaching is more concerned with practical language application. So ENSTs appear at the middle schools. There is a lot of evidence to indicate that teachers'teaching styles and methodologies have great influences on the way they plan their lessons and on their general classroom practice. They tend to be culturally bound. For the young language learners, it is difficult to understand ENST totally without CNST's help. In such teaching situation, can the two teachers'classroom actions be consistently joint?Practical investigations have been made in two grade-one senior middle school classes in Lanzhou. The author conducts interviews with ENST, leaders from Gansu Educational Department as well as schools where ENST work at. Apart from these, the author observes how ENST and CNST co-teach in class and write down the teaching process, at the same time the author makes questionnaire for students taught by co-teaching pairs before and after the experiment. Based on the above investigations, This thesis analyzes the present situation of ENST's English teaching in middle schools in Lanzhou, the differences between CNST and ENST and some styles of cooperative teaching program, and shows that if the advantages are combined and organically organized, it is beneficial for students'full-scale development in English learning. The overall purpose of the research is to encourage the cooperation between CNST and ENST as to construct cooperative teaching program.The thesis consists of five chapters:Chapter one is an introduction to the general research background.In Chapter two, the literature review related to cooperative program, the conceptual definitions of key terms and the theoretical basis and studies relevant to the present research will be included,Chapter 3 lays the theoretical foundation for this study. The questionnaire and its components are described respectively. Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 are the main parts of the study.Chapter 4 includes participants and instrument's structure. The methods of data collection and analysis are also presented in this part.Chapter 5 contains the results and their interpretations, the implications and recommendations from the research efforts and the directions for future research.
