Accelerating the teaching staff construction of higher vocational education is the essential program to vigorously develop the higher vocational education and improve higher educational level. Higher vocational colleges need cultivate skillful craftsman-type of college students, so teachers must be of strong specialized practical competence. The teaching mode combining learning with working is being carried out with emphasis by higher vocational colleges in our country, which emphasizes to cultivate practical competence, to reform talent educating pattern, and to embody the practicality, openness and professional effect of teaching process. The premise condition to achieve the goal is to construct teachers'practical teaching competence. Although all the higher vocational colleges in our country are taking kinds of methods to improve teachers'practical competence, the system is still not perfect.By means of the research methods of interviews, literature and case, this paper defines practical competence and describes the theories related to the practical competence in-service training of teachers, such as teachers'specialization theory, incentive theories and developmental teachers'evaluation theory. This paper analyzes the present situation of teachers' practical competence in higher vocational colleges and its training and points out that specialized teachers'practice in companies related to their major is the most effective method to train in-service teachers'practical competence in higher vocational college. Then this paper introduces that how teachers improve their practical competence by practicing in companies in Wenzhou Vocational & Technical College. At last, combining theory with practice, this paper discusses what country, college, teacher, company should do to train practical competence of teachers in higher vocational college, and puts forward some suggestions.Only when teachers are pushed to practice, can teachers' bi professional quality be improved, and also teachers'social competitive force. So it will help to improve talent training quality, students'employment competitive power and community service abilities. Higher vocational colleges will be able to truly face society and market, closely relate with industry and enterprise, so as to achieve the positive interaction between college and society finally. This paper will be of practical significance in strengthening the training of teachers'bi professional quality and promoting the reform and development of vocational education.
