Mathematics originated in life, mathematics can solution problem of real life. From the 1980s, problem solving become the hot topic of education concerns. In July 2001,the ministry of education promulgated , "experimental draft in the course of learning for the third marking sections (seven to nine grade) about solving problems this part is such request:"…use character, letter or icon clearly expresses such as solving the problem, and explain the results rationality…".So, for junior high school students ability to solve problems of developing level of investigation and study is very necessary.The aim of this study was to examines middle-school students ability to solve problems development level. By studying and related problems on aspects of the study, detailed references to the analysis of the problem solving process, and puts forward the problem-solving process four capability involves reading comprehension, constructing mathematical modeling capability, solving problem and ability, evaluation and reflection. Through analyzing,, teaching aim, teaching material contents, teaching requirements, compiled the two sets of problem solving ability test volume. In city and countryside selected 154 students were, has carried on the questionnaire test. Will test the results after finishing and SPSS software and statistics theory analysis, and concluded. This study adopts literature data collection, the survey method to test, the test paper qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis results are points.Through the conclusion of quantitative and qualitative analysis, the study get some conclusions:First, the test paper mathematical knowledge content four aspects involves several and algebra, space geometry, probability and statistics, problems with fairness background. Students' ability to solve problems in 61 points average and 50% of the students passed.Second, problem solving process four ability elements have order of correlation, namely constructing reading ability influence mathematical model ability, constructing mathematical model influence solving and expression ability, solving and expression ability influence evaluation and reflection ability, and reflection ability also influenced the ability of solve problems.Third, reading comprehension, constructing mathematical modeling capability, solving and expression ability, evaluation and reflection ability in four competence factors score degressive.Fourth, urban students and rural students' ability to solve problems exist significant differences, namely the ability to solve problems urban students is higher than the rural students of problem-solving ability.Fifth, boys and girls problem solving ability do not exist significant differences.
