Coursebooks are the core part of curriculum resources as well as the base for teachers'teaching and students'learning. The set of coursebooks Go for it, which is compiled by People's Education Press (PEP) according to New English Curriculum Standards, shocks rural school teachers with its new concepts, content and format, for they are quite different from the traditional teaching model and teaching materials. And many teachers consider that there still exists a mismatch between Go for it and rural students'needs. In the face of varying teaching situations, as executors of new curriculum reform, rural teachers need to learn to use the coursebook creatively to teach the curriculum to meet the students'diversified needs.Concerning the problems existing in Go for it, the author took 56 students in his class as the experimental subjects and conducted redevelopment practice on the basis of students'needs analysis as well as the internal and external evaluation of Go for it. With modern student-oriented teaching perspectives as well as constructivism learning theory through the whole research act, the author put forward a new model of coursebook redevelopment that is suitable for rural students. The research results show that the model not only met the learning needs of students to a large extent, but also improved the development of the teacher himself in teaching and research. The research results also prove that the coursebook redevelopment to be one of the efficient teaching ways adopted in English teaching. This paper begins with the introduction of the background as well as the meaning of carrying out this research and the definition of coursebook redevelopment. The following content is Literature Review which covers relevant theories about needs analysis and coursebook redevelopment, including the connotation and role of coursebooks, the concept of coursebook redevelopment and its relevant studies. Next, preparatory work before the coursebook redevelopment is discussed, i.e., conducting analyses of students'learning needs and evaluation of Go for it in order to have a definite redevelopment objective in view. And then, the practice of coursebook redevelopment based on Book 1 & 2 of Go for it is carried out, where quite a lot of teaching methods, principles are promulgated and the analysis of the redevelopment effect is elaborated. Finally, the redevelopment model and the main achievements are concluded in terms of students and the author. Besides, some suggestions and guidance for the future study are put forward.
