Moral education is an important part of school education. With the fast development of our society, people's ideas and values and social morality have changed greatly, turbid thoughts prevailing across the whole country. This phenomenon exerts an unignorable affect on moral education in high schools. For example, the social environment where high school students grow up seems to be more and more chaotic, which results in the disability of the traditional ways of moral education in high schools to meet the need of the development of modern society. Therefore, it is of very necessity to adapt the out-dated moral education pattern (both in content and methodology) to play a role it should be in society. Now, the question we have to answer is that how we can resolve the problems existing in moral education in high schools to promote its positive affects on both students and society. Doubtlessly, it is a meaningful and very significant research topic.For a long time past, many moral educators and scholars had carried out a great deal of significant work on moral education in high school both in theoretical and practical perspectives, and much progress has been achieved. However,after a thorough survey on moral education at Chongqing No. 8 high school, the author of this research found that there are still some defects in the moral education at high schools. The authorities of high schools didn't pay enough attention to moral education. Meanwhile, the content of moral education is unrealistic and isolated from the social development and students'specialty and the methods and means adopted in moral education are generally out-dated. What's more, some of the staff are not qualified enough or even dad-qualified and the assessment criteria system is not sound. Consequently, conducting a study on the defects of moral education at high schools not only promotes our recognizing and understanding of these problems but also sheds light on the ways we can approach them.Through studying the problems exist in moral education at high schools in detail, we put forward some measures educators could adopt for improve moral education at high schools as follows: firstly, educators should persist the priority of moral education in school education; secondly, educators should make efforts to create good and harmonious atmosphere for moral education, together with reform and innovation in methods and models of moral education at high schools; last but not the least, the content of moral education should be changed to meet the reality of social development and students'specialty, plus providing more qualified moral educators and perfecting assessment criteria of moral education at high schools.Moral education should always be given priority in school education, for it matters both the youth'growth and our nation's future. Before too long, we will see that the moral education at high schools may take on a whole new face if the public together with educators pay more attention to it and work relentlessly.
