| Taijiquan is China's brilliant national cultural legacy for both its defense training and its health benefits. Taijiquan which combines inner guiding, breathing and boxing skill is a perfect sport of body-practicing, mind-practicing and vitality-practicing. At present, most research of understandings of Taijiquan's mind is based on Taijiquan technique and personal practical experience. This kind of perception is only qualitative and theoretical, which does not provide quantitative annotation.This essay draws support from EEG analyzer (MEEG-903) made by Beijing Kelong Biomedical Technology Corporation to trace and examine the change law of EEG successively between the professional Taijiquan practitioners and the control group in different motion state including natural state, static state, dynamic state, meditation state, Reverse Roll Forearm, Cloud Hands, Wild Horse Splits Mane, Knee Brushing. The aim is to find the differences and change law of EEG between the two groups, probe the influence of Taijiquan practitioner's higher nervous activity, and then explain Taijiquan technique using quantitative basis.The following conclusions are drawn from statistics and analysis of test data from MEEG-903.(1) In different exercise states, compared to the control group, the nerve condition of professional group is higher excitability in cerebral cortex and lower inhibition. In addition, during dynamic state, the most significant differences of EEG focus on the right hemisphere. This means long-term practices Taijiquan possess certain stimulation effect on right hemisphere.(2) In different action exercising processes, the change of EEG of different encephalic regions are as follows:in parietal region, central region and occipital region, the a 3 wave is the main brainwave; in frontal region and temporal region, the slow wave is the main brainwave. That means long-term professional practitioners of Taijiquan have coherent electrical activity of brain during different action states.(3) During the natural state, static state, dynamic state and meditation state, the changes of power spectrum of several waves are as follows: during static state and dynamic state, the power spectrum increases progressively; during the meditation state the power spectrum declines significantly; the power spectrum reached its highest point during the dynamic state. That suggests the excitability and inhibition of cortical neuron occur by turn and mutually reinforce each other, where it represents the fusion of Yin and Yang into a single ultimate(4) While practicing Reverse Roll Forearm, Cloud Hands, Wild Horse Splits Mane, Knee Brushing, the power spectrums of professional group all have a process of rising, declining and rising again, showing that during different actions, the excitability and inhibition of cortical neuron occur by turn and mutually reinforce each other. That means long-term practitioners of Taijiquan have better sense of control and their brains can actively administrate their bodies.(5) During different states and different action exercising, the percentage ofβwave of professional group is greater than the control group in both left frontal region and right frontal region, which is related to the technique level and the understanding of mind of Taijiquan. This suggests that Taijiquan can tap the potential energy of human brain, especially the potential of the right frontal region. |
